FOLSOM FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Why should I use a automatic car wash to wash my car?

A: . . . Specific scientific tests at the University of Texas further showed that hand car washing can produce so many marks on a car's finish that they cannot even be counted. The tests showed that in all hand washing temperatures, surface reflectance readings steadily declined, with some hand washing techniques being considerably worse than others. By contrast, when cars were washed by professional full service car washes, there was virtually no change in the surface reflectance or shine readings. Read full article.

A: . . . Eventually, either by force of habit or because the car finish looks dull, the weekend hand washer resorts to the lengthy and back-breaking chore of applying abrasive rubbing compound or similar pastes and liquids to their vehicle. This process indeed restores the luster to the finish. Such "pampered" cars naturally appear to have just rolled out of the showroom. The proud motorist forgets the long hours with the rubbing compound, and is probably unaware that the reason for all that work (to get the scratches out) was their energetic hand washing procedure on previous weekends. Q: My vehicle is brand new, what’s the best way to protect it and keep it looking new

A: The best way to protect your vehicle is with a paint sealant and scotch guarding of the interior fabrics. Once your vehicle is protected, frequent professional washing and waxing your painted surfaces at least twice a year will help keep your car looking new.  All these services can be performed by our professional staff for fractions of the price of dealers.

Q: Why do I need to wax my vehicle? It has a clear coat.

A: All new vehicles have a clear coat over the paint.  That clear coat is a very thin and delicate layer that sits on top of the paint to make the painted surfaces shine.  Waxing the clear coat frequently will help keep the clear coat strong to repel the harmful contaminates of daily elements. We recommend having this done at least twice a year, the more often the better.

Q: What is the safest method to wash my vehicle?

A: There was a study done by the University of Texas that proved that having your vehicle washed in a soft cloth system, like ours, is the safest for your vehicles finish.  In our wash system you will see brushes; these brushes are made of a soft cloth material that is very safe for your vehicles finish. In touch less car wash systems they use very strong chemicals and very high pressure to get your vehicle clean, these chemicals can be very dangerous especially to vehicles that don’t have a lot of wax protection.  Hand washing your vehicle at home can be very dangerous because you need to pressure wash off the dirt before washing the vehicle with a mitt to get all the dirt and grime off otherwise that dirt and grime will act as an abrasive such as sand paper.  Not only is our system for washing your vehicle the safest for your car, it is the safest for the environment.  With using our car wash you will use a third the amount of water as you would in the washing at home.  Also our water is recycled and not going down the storm drains, keeping all soaps and oils out of our streams and rivers.
